Call for Submissions: Zine of Women’s abortion experiences in PEI (Deadline January 15)

Seeking: Stories, Poetry, and Art

PEI women who have confronted issues of reproductive choice have rarely been able to tell their stories without fear of judgment or reprisal. This silence has served to isolate us and to allow the myths and stereotypes about abortion and reproductive choice to abound. We want to break that silence.

We want to hear your stories, your thoughts, feelings, and experiences regarding reproductive choice – whether this choice was enacted or was denied. We want to obliterate the black and white of the so-called “Abortion Debate” with the rich texture of the social, emotional, economic, intellectual, spiritual aspects of our experiences. With these stories we will compile an anthology of PEI women’s experiences.

This anthology will be published as a Zine, also known as a chapbook. Following the launch, this publication will be distributed throughout PEI and beyond. If you would like to be part of this project, please your written or scanned submissions to peiabortionrights@gmail.com.

Your contribution to this project will be anonymous unless you specify otherwise. Please change the names in your piece. If you need to submit your work in another way, please email to make arrangements.

Deadline: Please submit your piece before January 15th, 2012. (If you miss the deadline, please contact us, as your work may be included in a second edition.)
