Northern Light Gathering - 2008
Northern Light is building a network of people who care about Northern girls and young women.
If you want to create more opportunities for girls to become confident and active, then join us for 6 days of connecting, sharing skills and taking action. We are stronger when we are connected!
Where: Whitehorse, YK
When: July 18-24, 2008
Goal: to build our skills, knowledge and contacts – so that we can better support Northern young women become advocates for themselves, their communities, and their regions. The project is all about exchanging our knowledge, skills, passions and enthusiasm – you are invited to get involved!
At the Gathering, there will be time & space to: * Network & connect with girls & women from across the North * Take part in training workshops * Share success stories & action strategies * Exchange resources, skills & inspiration * Relax, create & celebrate! Find out more about the program.
Who is putting this project together?
Fondation filles d'action - Girls Action Foundation and 6 partners in Northern communities are co-presenting the Northern Light Gathering: • Inuvik Youth Centre (Inuvik, NT) • Cree Nation of Wemindji (Wemindji, QC) • Leaping Feats Creative Danceworks (Whitehorse, YT) • Centre for Northern Families (Yellowknife, NT) • Cambridge Bay Wellness Centre (Cambridge Bay, NU) • Faro Girls Night (Faro, YK) The project can cover travel and registration fees for a limited number of participants. Please indicate on the registration form whether or not you require a subsidy to participate. This event is offered at the same time and place as Make Some Noise North! Consider inviting a girl from your community to take part in the leadership and arts training while you attend the Northern Light Gathering.
